Juliet's biographer
Marian Rhys was a phone-sex operator for 28 years, from 1987 to 2015. She met Juliet
Anderson through the sex-worker support group Cyprian Guild, the successor to COYOTE (Call Off Your Old, Tired Ethics),
founded by Margo St. James. After Juliet died, Marian decided to write her biography, as she
knew that Juliet had long wanted to write her own story.
It was through this writing that Marian came to know and love Juliet much better than she had when
Juliet was still with us.
Marian feels, as Juliet did, that sex work is the most honorable and meaningful work that she has ever done.
Marian also worked as an art model, another job she loved, although her main income over the years came from
mainframe computer programming and technical writingother jobs that require creativity and flexibility.
Marian feels blessed and honored to have had the opportunity to engage in sex work, to have known Juliet, and
to bring Juliet's story to the world. She hopes that readers will come to appreciate Juliet in all her
complexity, and maybe learn something about life, love and lust, along the way.
